"Then suddenly he felt a quickening in him. His heart turned and he leaned his back against the counter for support. For in a swift radiance of illumination he saw a glimpse of human struggle and of valor. Of the endless fluid passage of humanity through endless time. And of those who labor and of those who—one word—love. His soul expanded. But for a moment only. For in him he felt a warning, a shaft of terror... he was suspended between radiance and darkness. Between bitter irony and faith."Carson McCullers, of course.

Galore Glimpses #2
There is a pile of snaps and polaroids on my desk and a mountain of images on my hard drive from the shoot for "Galore". In the midst of the madness and confusion of shooting, stopping for a moment to take a snap allowed a little breath of calibration, a moment away from everything where I could order my swirling head before heading back to the frontlines. So, judging by this mountain of stills, I was escaping and recalibrating a lot. I'm not gonna bore you with all of them, but here's a few more glimpses of where we've been and where we were going.

Failure
"If you want movies to give you everything, this movie fails. You have to be there. I need you. I don’t want to show you. I want to really share something. It’s not easy. When you have a conversation, and you really want to understand the other person, it takes time and effort. It's the same with this movie."

Blur
It's been a blur. A few too many years of writing to count. A few too many months of pre-pre production to count, either. Six weeks of pre production. Five weeks of shooting. Days and nights dissolving into one long endless stream of light and intensity. A couple of weeks of collapse. A couple of weeks of dissolution. And now, the bleary, beautiful darkness of the edit suite. It was a blur. So much to make sense of. So much to think on, and write about, and learn from, and be bolstered by, and to cherish. A total fucking blur.
